Kevin Frisbie | Account Executive Beer, burgers and PR Stop me if you’ve heard this before. A kid walks into a bar and begins a career in public relations. Such is the tale of Kevin Frisbie. Kevin’s first job was a busboy at Denver’s historic My Brother’s Bar. For 15 years he bussed tables, flipped burgers and poured beers. He didn’t realize it at the time, but by catering to the whims of demanding customers, bossy waitresses and doing it all in a timely fashion, Kevin developed skills that would benefit him in a career in public relations:
He also learned important basic skills such as multitasking, working in a fast-paced environment, branding, and empathy - as well as learning from the ground up. So what else could he do? Kevin earned his undergraduate degree in Public Relations at Colorado State University. After graduating, he continued to work at the bar and soon landed a job as publicist at Allied Integrated Marketing. During his time at Allied he managed regional publicity and promotions for several high profile clients, including Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, The Weinstein Co., and Miramax Films. It was here that Kevin expanded on the skills he learned at the bar as well as adding media relations and event planning to his repertoire. After six years at Allied, Kevin joined MGA in March 2012, but you can still find Kevin helping at the bar occasionally. Besides being the place where his career began during his own 15 years at the bar, Kevin has history there. His parents and sister had both worked there before him and it’s also where he met his wife. Be sure to say hi if you see him and ask him your burning public relations questions.
Interesting fact Kevin has been a judge in a belly flop contest. |
