Jennifer Watson, APR | Vice President What do you do if you're interested in everything? That question has plagued Jennifer since her junior year of high school. Caught between warring ambitions, she headed west from Michigan to the plains of Iowa to enroll in a liberal arts college. Her plan was to study everything and then wait for a light to shine and reveal what her true calling in life would be. Well, Iowa is a sunny place, but no magic light appeared. She studied literature and statistics, sang in the choir, served as features editor of the college newspaper and even spent a semester in France. Then the ugly reality hit: She was going to have to choose a major and focus on something. She chose political science (don’t even ask how), which is how she wound up in Colorado. An alumnus from her college offered her an entry-level position on a U.S. Senate campaign, and she headed further west to give it a try. She then found a job in a publishing house, worked for a nonprofit association and decided it was time to go back to school. But what should she study? After four years of college and three of work, that might seem like an easy question. It wasn’t. Help was on the way, however, in the form of a journalist with some sage advice. Like to write, learn about different topics and meet new people? Try journalism, the wise woman said. So Jennifer studied journalism and wrote about the state legislature for the Colorado Springs Gazette. She eventually realized she’d be happier in public relations. So, she took a job with Jefferson County and spent the next eight years developing public relations and marketing programs. Finally, the urge to try something new led to her to join MGA and its diverse array of clients. If you’re interested in everything, what could be better?
Interesting Fact Jennifer has recorded albums in three languages (English, Russian and Latin). |
