Most of the financial experts seem to be in concert – raise the debt ceiling. So what is the hold up? Does America need to reduce our expenses? Yes! Do we need to increase revenue? Yes!
Any small business owner knows when you have more debt than you should, it is difficult, at best, to reduce that debt by just cutting expenses, particularly if you are trying to hold on to the business you have and hopefully grow. You need to also increase revenue.
If Congress and the President want to bundle the debt ceiling issue with a plan to lower our country’s spending and reasonably increase revenue, then it seems that compromise on both sides is the only way. But, I believe the gamesmanship being played is hurting our economy now and default will definitely not help.
The Republicans seem to think the Tea Party perspective is more important than the warnings of the financial experts. The President and Democratic leadership need to be loud and clear about how their perspective could help keep the economy moving forward and increase jobs.
Whatever one’s political persuasion, we should not tolerate the soap opera going on in Washington. It is truly jeopardizing the health of our economy and therefore the health of our businesses.
Small business owners every where need to shout out: “Get it done. Now!”
