What are you doing the morning of Saturday, Aug. 28? If you love tomatoes, you should plan to be in Arvada for the eighth annual NatureSweet Homegrown Tomato Challenge.
Through this Friday, Aug. 13, you can enter a cooking contest on NatureSweet's Facebook page with a chance to win $2,500.

Just tell them—in 200 words or less—why you love cooking with tomatoes, and you could be selected to compete against two others for the chance to win prizes including $2,500!
If—based on your essay—you are selected as one of the three finalists, you'll need to be at the event on Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m. to sign in and receive your instructions. You get one hour to cook (!) and then your recipes will be sampled and judged by a Celebrity Judge Panel.
One of this year's judges, Mario Godoy, executive chef at Piatti in Cherry Creek, was on KWGN's Everyday Show last week to promote the contest and cook up a tasty cherry tomato pasta toss.
Other judges this year include Susan Clotfelter, author and gardening blogger for The Denver Post, and Lori Midson, Café Society Editor at Westword. Reed Saunders, the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and the Colorado Eagles, will also be on-hand as the event emcee.
So get your essays in by this Friday, Aug. 13, mark your calendars for August 28, and visit NatureSweet's Facebook page for more information.
Note: Desert Glory, Ltd., based in San Antonio, Texas, is the leading grower of premium fresh tomatoes in North America under the NatureSweet® brand, and is a client of MGA Communications.
